Thank you to the local DAR chapter!
Northern Star would like to thank the local Trahlyta Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for their thoughtful and gracious welcome baskets donation.
This summer, Northern Star is getting ready to open its doors to young ladies in the North Georgia area that are aging out of foster care.
The welcome baskets from the DAR will provide the first 6 participants with a personal welcome basket filled with their own personal hygiene items, towels, a pillow, devotional and activity books, room decor, school supplies, a food gift card, American flags, and personal letters to the participants from the member of the Trahlyta Chapter.
What a wonderful way to show their love and support to these young ladies moving on to the Northern Star campus! Northern Star’s Board of Directors and staff would like to thank the Trahlyta Chapter for their donation and support!

Life Teen gives back!
Saturday March 12th, marked a turning point for Northern Star.
On that day, a group of students and adults from St. Micheal the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Woodstock, GA gave up their Saturday to serve our community. One of their projects was the Northern Star property.
2 houses, 2 yards, 20 teenagers, 4 adults… By late afternoon, the group had accomplished more than one could’ve imagined: Carpet? Gone! Vinyl floors? Gone! They pulled, tugged, scrubbed, and sweated until the last possible moment.
We are so grateful, so humbled, for their help. And we are so excited for the next chapter in the life of this organization! Northern Star’s future, as well as the young adults it will serve, is bright, indeed.

Dahlonega Baptist Church VBS supports Northern Star with surprise donation!
With over 200 children attending Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Dahlonega Baptist Church this summer, the competition was on to see which class could raise the most money to support a “mystery” children’s organization in the community. This was part of the children’s mission this week, which they achieved – coming in well beyond their goal!
During Family Night on June 13th, while celebrating the close of an amazing week of VBS, the children’s director, Velvie Banister, revealed that Northern Star was chosen as the “mystery” organization to receive the money collected by the children during the week. Lindsey Oliver, Chair of the Northern Star’s Board of Directors, and Mandy Williams, the organization’s Executive Director, were honored to receive the donation, which totaled $1698 from the children, families, and volunteers of VBS. Ms. Banister went on to challenge the families in attendance to see if they could get the total money collected for the week to reach $2000, and by the end of the night donations had exceeded the $2000 challenge!
Northern Star would like to thank all of the children, families, volunteers, and directors of VBS for this amazing donation. Your support means so much to us!
